Cat Tale – The Florida Panther Online
Hear how the panther became Florida’s official state animal – and nearly went extinct! By 1995, the panther population had dwindled down to fewer than 30, and some scientists thought it had fallen into single digits. Saving the panther required pulling off an unprecedented experiment, aided by a grizzled tracker, an outspoken veterinarian, and a handful of biologists who sometimes had to defy their own agencies to do what was right.
This event is funded through a Florida Humanities Florida Talks Grant, in partnership with Pinellas County Heritage Village.
This event is not hosted by the SJR State Library. We are sharing news of this free event because it is related to the curriculum offered at the College and, therefore, may be of interest to our students, faculty, and staff.
